Frequently asked questions

1. Is the Beacon printed and mailed, emailed, or both?

The Beacon is now available by email only. If you would like to start receiving the Beacon, click here.

2. I would like to know what the Beacon looks like and see examples of ad sizes. How do I do that?

The quickest and easiest way to see the Beacon is to view our archives–past issues.  Click here to see past issues of the Bay Hills Beacon.

3. What is the difference between a banner ad and a half banner ad?

A banner ad is the width of the newsletter.  A half banner ad is the width of half the newsletter, so two half banner ads could sit side by side.

4. What is the difference between an ad and the classifieds section?

The classifieds section is available to residents of Bay Hills only, and it is free. It is a page on the Bay Hills website, and the monthly Beacon includes a link to the classifieds page. The classifieds section is simply a list of short offerings for services and items for sale. Classified listings can be added at any time by emailing your listing to beacon@bayhillsonline.com.

Beacon ad materials and payment are due by the 15th of the month before you want your ad to run. You can either submit a print-ready ad following the specs, or you can submit copy, logo, and images to beacon@bayhillsonline.com, along with your completed contract for ad design. You will receive a proof and have the ability to make changes.

5. Who writes the advertorial if that is an option I’m interested in?

You, as the advertiser, write the advertorial, a maximum of 400 words, and the Beacon editor will edit it. In addition to the advertorial article, you may submit a logo, photo, and contact information.

6. What is the Beacon’s readership?

We currently have a mailing list of nearly 500 email addresses. The Beacon is also posted on the Bay Hills Community Association Facebook page and receives views from that source. Readers have the ability to forward the Beacon to other readers, as well. We average a 76% open rate (people who open the email); the industry average is just 22.2%.

7. Where do I send my digital ad materials, and where do I send my payment?

Send your contract and ad materials to beacon@bayhillsonline.com.

Send your payment (and contract if you can’t email it) to:

Michele Bauer
PO Box 8, Arnold, MD 21012

8. Who do I make my check out to?
