A LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Hello neighbors,

Hopefully everyone has persevered through the February ice storms and is ready for spring. On a positive note I'll start with some good news… The community finances and reserves are in the best shape I can remember. We ended the fiscal year with over $65,000+ in reserves. Now you may think that is a lot but there are some big bills looming. 3 years ago our reserves were below $20,000. So we have made great progress. At some point in the next 3-5 years the tennis courts will be near due for a major update. Other communities have spent up to 6 figures to do this. It will be up to a future board to deal with that but we will be leaving them in a good position when the time comes.

Also we had a big surge in collecting past due debt in the 1st quarter. See Treasurer Bob Ray's notes. Our new management company Procom has been very active on this front after years of neglect from the previous vendor. Also please remember that

2021 dues need to be in bay March 31st.

Quick notes:

The Board was given a presentation regarding creating a community garden. We are in favor of this but still need to check how that affects shared open space. Look for more info soon.

We are going to add additional planting at the basketball courts. We might need some volunteers for this. Tentative date is April 10th or 17th. Again more information to come.

In addition with all the oak trees we lost at the pavilion we will plan to replace as many as possible. Again volunteers will be needed . This will happen in April around the same time as planting at the Basketball courts.

The Long Term Planning committee has been activated. Please see Jeff Burkhart's letter regarding potential projects. We are looking for volunteers to join the committee and any feedback you may have.

Since revamping the website we would like to take the time to introduce you to some of the new features it provides. This month we are focusing on the HELPFUL LINKS page. Here you will find links and numbers connecting you to resources for community issues like the non-emergency police number, snow plowing request form, trash/recycling links and so much more. If there are any other Helpful Links you would like to see please drop a request to beacon@bayhillsonline.com and we will work to get them added to the website. We want this website to be a user friendly resource that you can rely on!

BAY HILLS LONG TERM PLANNING COMMITTEE

Long Term Planning Committee

Fellow Residents,

As we welcome in the new year your Bay Hills Homeowners Association (BHA) has charged the Long-Term Planning Committee to update the Association’s long-term plan.  This task is a community effort and the committee needs your input.

The opportunities to shape the future of BHA property and venues include the following four opportunities:

• Join the long-term planning committee, meeting quarterly 

• Regularly assist the committee by providing and assessing new ideas and prioritize existing maintenance and improvement projects

• Become involve on individual community projects 

• Provide your, and your neighbors ideas 

Currently BHA is focused on: 

• ENTRANCE - Renovation of the community entrance at Shore Acres Drive.

  • Repair brick wall

  • Improve or replace brick wall

  • Add flagpole and light

  • Add electricity and irrigation system to island

  •  Remove messaging board or replace board

• Tennis Court & Adjacent Areas

  • Continue tennis court operation and maintenance program

  • Evaluate and plan for fence replacement  

  • Evaluate and plan for asphalt surface replacement

  • Consider adding two courts for pickle ball 

  • Thin-out woods, behind courts, along side of courts, on Bay Hills Drive side of courts

  • Add more permanent building for storage of Association property

  • Reestablish seating outside entrance to tennis courts
    

• BAY HILLS DRIVE PARK – Renovate and Enhance  

  • Remove volleyball court, or provide additional maintenance of court

  • Relocate retaining wall at pavilion; eliminate access to pavilion roof

  • Add grilling/cooking area at pavilion; far end from tot-lot

  • Clear out under trees around tennis court and open that area for playing

  • Add seating area in area around book exchange

  • Add landscaping in area around book exchange

Should Bay Hills encourage or even help redevelop community and neighborhood clubs/groups.  In the past there have been many loosely organized gatherings by example, book clubs, card clubs, golf leagues, gourmet groups, investment groups, new mother’s groups, scout groups, youth sports practices, tennis classes and club. 

Stepping forward what desires do you as current residence desire. Increase your quality of life, the fun of living in Bay Hills, to improve your weekly life, standard of living, and maybe equality important to the community the value of our homes.

WOMEN’S TENNIS LESSONS/LEAGUE

Youth tennis in Bay Hills had a great turnout in the fall and will continue this Spring. We are also looking for beginners women's tennis interests (lessons and perhaps a league). For interest please contact:

Treasurers Report Ending February 28, 2021

The attached spreadsheet provides the account balances, income and expenditures for the month of January as well as year to date. We are currently at .1666% (2 months out of 12) of the way through the year, so you can compare where we are in any category against that figure.

With regard to income, things are very encouraging at the beginning of 2021 as several past due accounts have been paid. Most of them were only behind from last year, but we had a couple of pretty big late accounts who paid and got up to date.

There are currently 46 households in arrears on 2020 dues. Of those 18 are also in arrears for multiple prior years dues and fees. The highest amount in arrears, over and above just the 2020 amount, is $1,045.00 and the lowest is $190.00. There are an additional 8 households that owe an amount less than $150, ranging from $120.00 to $10.00.

All total the amount outstanding for 2020 and all prior years is now $15,137.50.
