I-97 Safety and Mobility Project Open House

Plans are afoot to study improvements to I-97 and the horrible intersection with Rt 50. Come to the meeting to make your concerns known!
I-97 Safety and Mobility Project Open House
The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is hosting a public open house on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bay Area Community Church, Annapolis Campus, 884 Chesterfield Road, Annapolis.
The upcoming I-97 Safety and Mobility Project will focus on reducing congestion and improving safety along I-97 between US 50 and MD 32, as well as nearby roads including MD 2 and MD 3. This stretch of I-97 is one of the state’s worst daily bottlenecks, especially during peak summer travel.
The project includes:
• Adding a travel lane in each direction on I-97 from US 50 to MD 32.
• Upgrading the I-97 northbound bridge over MD 450, also known as Defense Highway.
• Upgrading the northbound and southbound I-97 bridges over Crownsville Road.
• Providing stream restoration and drainage improvements.
Installing new stormwater management facilities to reduce environmental impacts.
At the open house, SHA will have maps, displays, and project information available. SHA representatives will also be on hand to answer questions and receive public feedback. There will be no formal presentation, and attendees may arrive any time between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

4th of July Bike Parade The Bay Hills community bike/scooter/golf cart/stroller/wagon parade will be on the 4th of July! Meet at 503 Golf Circle at 10am, we will stroll around the small loop of Bay Green > Burning Tree > Augusta > Bay Green and then hang out together with Tasty Toucan popsicles. Red, white, and blue decorations and attire strongly encouraged!! All kids and adults in the Bay Hills community are invited to attend, please spread the word to your neighbors!

Please be mindful that although our neighborhood surrounds the Bay Hills Golf Course, the course itself remains private property and is not part of our community’s shared common areas. While it may feel like an extension of our neighborhood because of its proximity, it is important to remember that it is owned and operated separately. As a community, we all share the responsibility of respecting that boundary. This means refraining from walking on the course, using it as a shortcut, or allowing our children to play there. Being mindful of these guidelines helps maintain a positive relationship with the golf course and ensures we are honoring property rights and community standards.

We will have ONE dumpster this year for ONE day only on Tuesday, July 28th. The dumpster will be delivered sometime on the morning of July 28th. It will be first come, first serve. Please remember that large plastic items, large trash items and large bulk items can be picked up during trash week. Please click here for more information.

If you do not live in one of these communities, you will not be provided the court code.
