A Letter from the President

Hello Neighbors,

I’d like to start by announcing that our new community website has gone live. Please go to bayhillsonline.com and take a look. We welcome your thoughts or feedback. It’s new platform allows a lot more flexibility moving forward in several areas we needed to address. Keep an eye out for more information in the coming months as we take advantage of tools that we didn’t have on our previous site.

The biggest issue the board is dealing right now is the pavilion structure. We are in the process of getting quotes to replace the rotting posts that were improperly installed when the pavilion was built. We are waiting for more information, but we may have to close the pavilion for a period of time pending the contractor’s methods. More on this coming in the next few weeks.

The board is also looking into updating our bylaws. They are antiquated and have handicapped us  as we’ve attempted to enforce some of these bylaws because of the restrictive language. We’ve been advised that an update is drastically needed. We’re looking to see if we can have those updated bylaws in place to be voted on in our community meeting in October. Our biggest challenge is that we need 3/4 of the community to vote for the updates in order to pass. We will need everyone’s help getting out the message!

Construction replacing the basketball courts should start this month so look for more activity and congestion around that area.  Also don’t forget the dumpsters are going to be on the street in front of Pavilion on June 19 and 20th. 

As we get into the summer months please pay attention to your speed while driving through the neighborhood. There are lots of walkers, joggers and bikers taking advantage of the warmer weather. In addition, more kids once they get out of school. PLEASE SLOW DOWN.  4 out of 5 tickets that have been written by the police are issued to Bay Hills residents.  WE are a big part of the problem.

Lastly, as we head into the summer months please remember report any suspicious activity to 911 with as much information as possible. Even if it is not a emergency each incident reported goes into a database that is used when analyzing trends and extra patrols.

Bay Hills Community Association, Inc. Minutes of Monthly Meeting- April 2019

Held on April 8, 2019 at the Shore Acres Clubhouse

In Attendance: David Eckels, Bob Ray, Nancy Fink, Dave Glaser, Ed Dawson, Mary Cortes

The meeting was called to order at 7:33 p.m. by President Dave Eckels.

Welcome & Approval of Meeting Minutes/Treasurer’s Report: Dave Eckels

● March 2018 meeting minutes approved

Treasurer’s Report:

● Bob Ray reworked the layout of the treasurer’s report, cleaning up stale line items and re-formatting the layout

● March 2018 treasurer’s report is approved

● The Board is researching the cost of performing audit of the books, and will be getting quotes from CPAs to manage the audit

● BHCA needs to evaluate the strategy for long-term dues collection Communications:

● Transition is underway to move BHCA communications (website, advertising, Beacon) from Katie Haxton to Annie Kersey

● Beacon classifieds need to be cleaned up and parameters for cost of advertising revisited Property & Grounds:

● Board is considering adding another Doody Calls pet waste station in the community if there is a need

● Pavilion at the playground needs to be stabilized

● Community entrance signs required masonry work and powerwashing

● Tennis courts need to be powerwashed

● Changing the layout of the basketball courts, etc. (where the outfall work is being done by the county) is not practical, so the layout will remain as it was prior to the work Social:

● Easter party is planned for April 7, 2019

● BHCA needs a volunteer to manage Welcome Baskets Old Business:

● Community property inventory is ongoing

● AACo does not retain many of the records from the time the community was built Adjournment:
